Volunteer with Project Galilee – Be Part of Something Transformative!

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back, connect with others, and support your local community? Project Galilee is inviting volunteers to join our Tuesday Volunteers team! Whether you have a passion for gardening, enjoy working with children, or love bringing people together over food, there’s a place for you.

What is Project Galilee?

Project Galilee is an exciting new community and faith initiative based at the former St Pancras Catholic Primary School site in Lewes. Rooted in the values of Catholic social teaching, it seeks to create a place of encounter, learning, and service, where people can come together in faith, friendship, and action.

The name ‘Galilee’ holds deep significance in Christian tradition—Galilee was where Jesus formed His disciples, performed miracles, and reached out to those in need. Inspired by this, Project Galilee aims to be a place of welcome and transformation, where people can explore faith, build community, and support one another in practical ways.

It is part of the Diocesan Plan, responding to the changing needs of the Church by bringing together skills, resources, and people into a shared hub for mission and outreach.

How Can You Help?

We are looking for volunteers to assist in:

🌿 Gardening Club – Help maintain and develop our community garden, creating a peaceful and sustainable space for reflection and enjoyment.

🍽 Catering – Support our hospitality team in preparing and serving meals, ensuring that everyone who visits experiences warmth and welcome.

🎨 After-School Club – Work with children in a safe and engaging environment, helping with activities, crafts, and games that inspire and support their development.

👶 Parent & Toddlers Group – Help provide a space where parents and little ones can connect, play, and build lasting friendships.

What’s Involved?

  • No prior experience needed—just a willing heart and open hands!
  • Full training provided, including safeguarding.
  • DBS checks are required and will be arranged for all volunteers.
  • A fantastic opportunity to grow in faith, learn new skills, and make a real impact.
